'80 SC turn signal wiring ?
original problem - no turn signals and no hazard lights - replaced turn signal and flasher relay - hazard lights now work, but only when the ignition is on; turn signals still don't work; they illuminate but don't blink only when the headlights are on. I'm not sure if wires are installed properly - can anyone tell me which wire goes to which connection on the headlight switch (the four spade connectors). Any help in figuring this out is appreciated. Thks, Nick

If the ground wire in the turn signal assembly isn't connected soundly it can cause all kinds of wierd symptoms. I had to add pig tail extensions on my ground wires because they would pop off when reinstalling after changing out all my old bulbs.

Also check the hazard flasher switch and its connections, it just pulls out of the dash. It can cause weird things if it goes bad.

I had the same symptoms with a bad bulb, and with a bad fuse. I replaced all fuses and all outside bulbs, cleaned contacts and no problem for the last 6 months. I can't believe how quirky these cars get with a bad bulb or fuse.

Turn-signal update
So, here's a little more detail on the above mentioned problem.
I think someone with a little more electrical experience could sort this out without any trouble. Maybe with the additional detail this will ring a bell with someone.
With the new stalk in place and the new relay installed, the turn signals will NOT light unless the headlights are on in at least the first position. The hazards WILL light regardless of headlight position. But the flasher relay NEVER fires. The lights are just constant on. Also, on the dash, it seems that BOTH indicators light at the same time, regardless of the switch position (ie., LEFT or RIGHT lights both indicators).
All of the exterior bulbs ARE lighting fine. We've traced the pinouts on the hazard switch and the headlight switch and I'm confident all the wires are on the right pins.
All of the light controls ground to position G5 under the fuel filler tube. That ground point is 100% solid and all the wires are in excellent shape there. No corrosion, cracking or anything.
Has anyone seen a case where the headlight switch itself caused these issues? Is it even possible? Someone with just a LITTLE more electrical skill than we have could methodically step through the circuit and probably find the failure point. I can understand about 80% of the wiring diagrams, but beyond that we're pretty lost.
Appreciate any feedback on this.

Take out all the related fuses and sand the contacts on the fuse block, and either replace the fuses or also sand the contact points on the fuses, too. I had some odd electrical issues with my brake and reverse lights and cleaning up the fuse contacts solved my problems. My car is a 78 SC.

Sounds like a grounding problem(maybe G2). Also check the ground wires behind the instruments. I had a interior light / clock problem that ended up being burnt ground wires behind the instruments. Just another guess....

I've checked all relevant grounds and they are excellent. I honestly can't figure out why the relay won't fire. I decided to test the circuit from the battery all the way to the relay, and I can't find anything wrong with it. There is a clip from the book, which exactly matches the wiring on this car, below.
Can anyone tell me how the relay is supposed to work so I can test the TWO that we have? I assumed that if I throw 12v to pins 49 & 49a, and ground to pin 31, the relay should click and pin C should alternate between 12v and 0. Any assistance on this is appreciated.

Bah! I think I figured out how to test the relay. If 49 is 12v and 31 is grounded, then 49A should flip on and off. And maybe C also, which looks like it goes back to the indicators on the dash.
